Mamata Banerjee to meet opposition leaders during Delhi visit for Niti Aayog meeting

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is expected to visit Delhi on May 27 to participate in the NITI Aayog Executive Council meeting.  Additionally, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has proposed a meeting with top opposition leaders from different states, to which Trinamool leaders may also attend if it materializes.

According to sources, the Chief Minister may go to the capital to attend the NITI Aayog Executive Council meeting. At the same time, a meeting of the top leaders of opposition parties can be called on the call of Bihar Chief Minister and JDU leader Nitish Kumar. If this happens then Trinamool leaders will also attend that meeting.

According to Trinamool sources, Mamata Banerjee is in touch with Nitish Kumar regarding this matter. Earlier, Nitish Kumar came to Kolkata with his deputy chief minister and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and met Mamata Banerjee. At that time, Mamata Banerjee suggested a meeting of the opposition parties in Patna.

Initially, Nitish was moving ahead with May 18 as the date of the possible meeting after the results of the Karnataka assembly elections and the process of government formation, but according to political sources, the chief ministers of non-BJP-ruled states will hold the NITI Aayog board meeting on May 27. will be included.

Opposition parties plan to meet in Delhi instead of Patna

At that time, Mamata Banerjee, Nitish Kumar, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Saran will be in Delhi. Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal can also join the meeting. In such a situation, the leaders of the opposition party believe that the meeting will be more convenient in Delhi instead of Patna. At that time, the meeting of the opposition parties in Delhi instead of Patna is being seen as preparation for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. However, political leaders say that the way the Congress is getting the lead in the Karnataka elections on Saturday and if its government is formed, the voice of the opposition parties will be louder and the Congress will be more competitive.

Karnataka assembly election result gives Congress lead

The Chief Minister of West Bengal used to avoid meeting of NITI Aayog's Executive Council for a long time. But last year in August she went to Delhi and attended this meeting. He is likely to attend the May 27 meeting this time. This may be the last meeting of the Parishad before the Lok Sabha elections. Last year, when Mamata Banerjee went to Delhi to participate in the Niti Aayog meeting, the election for the post of Vice President was being held. The Trinamool and the rest of the opposition, including the Congress, were at loggerheads over the selection of opposition alliance candidates for the presidential and vice-presidential elections.

Trinamool sources claim that in the current situation, the Trinamool leader has no problem with Nitish Kumar as the coordinator of opposition unity. Instead, Trinamool sources claim that Nitish Kumar is moving forward by staying in touch with Mamata Banerjee.
